Incarcerated Students

Rio Salado College offers work-based education, adult basic education from basic literacy through GED, and print-based distance learning courses to inmates in prisons administered by the Arizona Department of Corrections. The program is designed for youthful offenders, targeting inmates age 18-25 for re-entry into society upon their release. Programs are limited to inmates within 5 years of release and are pre-screened for re-integration within the community.

Work-based programs are offered in a variety of fields, including: automotive technology, culinary arts, computer maintenance and horticulture. Inmates who already have their high school diploma or GED are eligible to sign up for distance learning college classes.
