Associate in Applied Science in Nursing

Rio Salado College offers a nationally-accredited registered nursing program. While the nursing program is available at nine Maricopa Community Colleges, Rio Salado is unique in its online format. Rio Salado provides an online version of nursing classroom courses with traditional clinical rotations in local area hospitals.

Students can enter the Rio Salado Nursing program either as a new student or as an advanced student if they have a Practical Nurse License or have transferred approved coursework from an accredited college.

Registered Nurse License is the exclusive responsibility of the Arizona State Board of Nursing according to Title 32, Chapter 15 of the Arizona revised statutes.

Advanced Placement

Admission Requirements: Nurse Entrance Test (NET) Applicants must score at 60% or higher in reading and 50% higher in Math. The NET Study Guide is available in selected college bookstores and libraries or at: www.eriworld.com

In addition to the NET, advanced placement applicants for Block 3 must take the HESI PN Exam. Applicants must achieve a score of 800 or higher to qualify for placement into Block 3. Applicants scoring less than 800 may be placed in Block 2 for remediation of practical nursing content. Fingerprint clearance is required for admission. Applicants must submit a copy of both sides of their Fingerprint Clearance Card. The card must be current for at least 24 months from date of application.
