Paul Evans

PAUL F. EVANS

Paul Evans began his career with the Boston Police Department in 1970. He was appointed to the position of Police Commissioner on February 14, 1994, and has served as Commissioner since that time. During his career with the Boston Police Department, Commissioner Evans has held the following positions:

  • July 1993 to February 1994: Superintendent-in-Chief
  • February 1992, to July 1993: Superintendent, Chief of the Bureau of Investigative Services
  • March 1986 to February 1992: Superintendent, Chief of the Bureau of Field Services
  • 1980 to 1986: Deputy Superintendent (Area D)
  • 1978 to 1980: Lieutenant, Duty Supervisor (Areas D and E)
  • 1975 to 1978: Sergeant, Patrol Supervisor (Area C)
  • 1970 to 1975: Patrol Officer (District C11)
Commissioner Evans received his Juris Doctor (Cum Laude) from the Suffolk University Law School, Boston, MA in 1978. He received his Bachelor of Science in political Science and Law Enforcement from Boston State College, Boston, MA in 1974.

Commissioner Evans served as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps from November 1967 to September 1969. He was assigned to an artillery battery during the Vietnam War.
