
Debi LaVergne served as a police officer in the State of Arizona for eight years, graduating from the Arizona Law Enforcement Training Academy in 1992. She began her career with the Gilbert Police Department, and later transferred to the Scottsdale Police Department.
Debi served a majority of her career in traffic enforcement. She completed several advanced accident and reconstruction courses and became a member of the Fatal Accident Reconstruction Team. She has also served as a Drug Recognition Officer, Crime Prevention Officer, and as a liaison for patrol in the Planning and Research Division, where she completed numerous Federal Grants, and was responsible for the department-wide training and implementation of Scottsdale's Records Management System. Other specialties assignments include; Field Training Officer, HGN Instructor, Physical Fitness Instructor and Recruit Training Officer at the Arizona Law Enforcement Academy.
Debi has an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Administration of Justice, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management, and a Master of Education Degree in Counseling. She is married to a Chandler Police Sergeant and has two young children. After the birth of her first child, she made the decision to leave police work to better serve her family needs. She continued with her love of education, teaching numerous Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement Technology, Counseling and Career Enhancement courses.
After leaving police work and entering the private industry, Debi discovered a talent in instructional design. She has found success in the private industry developing online college courses, and working as a consultant to colleges and municipalities in Instructor Development.
In her spare time, she loves working out - either at the gym or hiking South Mountain. Debi is also active in her church, serving as a volunteer with S.O.N. ministries.
