As the eighteen courses that constitute the program are successfully completed at these academies, registered students earn a total of up to 39 semester hours of academic credit from Rio Salado College. In addition, the students who successfully complete the academy are awarded a Certificate of Completion in Law Enforcement Technology (the number of credits earned through academies in states other than Arizona is dependent upon that particular academy's curriculum).
Registered Corrections officers who successfully complete the ten courses of the corrections program at the Arizona Correctional Officer Academy, earn a total of 21 semester hours of academic credit from Rio Salado College. In addition, the students who successfully complete the academy are awarded a Certificate of Completion in Corrections Technology.
Registered Detention Officers who successfully complete the eight courses of the detention program at the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Detention Academy, earn a total of 18 semester hours of academic credit from Rio Salado College. In addition, the officers who successfully complete the academy are awarded a Certification of completion in Detention.
The Law Enforcement Programs are Applied Programs of Rio Salado College.
