What is an endorsement?

An endorsement is documentation issued by the Arizona Department of Education verifying that a teacher has completed additional hours in a specialized subject area beyond his/her teaching certificate.

Why are the community colleges offering courses that lead to endorsement?

In 1998, the State Department of Education revised the state rules and regulations for teacher certification. These revisions allow other institutions, besides state universities to provide coursework needed for Endorsements.
