Sustainability

Rio’s Green Commitment

As part of the college’s strategic plan (Rio 2012), we’re currently determining our responsibilities related to sustainability.  A committee has been appointed to look at sustainability in terms of economics, social and cultural systems, and the environment.  To assist in these efforts, Rio has invited experts from the Global Institute of Sustainability and Wal-Mart.

In addition to “greening” our own college, Rio Salado’s President, Dr. Linda M. Thor, is a Charter Signatory for the American College & University Presidents Climate Commitment and a member of its Leadership Circle.  

Aashe Member Logo Rio Salado College looks forward to collaborating with other institutions in this sustainability effort and is a member of AASHE, the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education, and a member of the CQIN, Continuous Quality Improvement Network, Sustainability Vision Implementation Project.
