The Adult Basic Education program at Rio Salado College provides free instruction in basic skills, in the subjects required for the GED (high school equivalency diploma) and in English for Speakers of Other Languages, (ESOL) to students 16 years of age and older. Classes are offered at sites throughout Maricopa County, and meet during convenient daytime and evening hours. Books and materials are provided for students to use in the classroom.
Classes are self-paced. Instructors work with students to identify their individual learning goals and to develop plans to reach those goals.
The staff of the Adult Basic Education program also work with employers to design and offer basic education classes for employees at their work sites. For a minimal charge, employers can offer a convenient way for their employees to improve basic skills, prepare for the GED, or improve English language skills.
